Icy road conditions contributed to this one vehicle collision on Tyrol Boulvard, Rostraver Township. One patient who was involved refused treatment.
Responding units included Medic 501, 502, and 509 along with Rostraver PD. |

An afternoon accident required technical rescue after this vehicle lost control on icy roads resulting in the vehicle going over a 25 foot embankment. One patient was self extricated and able to reach the road under their own power. The second patient was self extricated but next to the car. This patient was immobilized and placed in a stokes basket. The stokes was then rigged with rope and through the combined efforts of 107, 17, and RWNES personnel she was hauled up the steep embankment. Both patients were transported to AGH for Level I Trauma services by ground due to inclement weather. RWNES would like to thank all participating parties who helped facilitate this rescue in less than 20 minutes, a job well done!

Dive Team Call

RWNES supported our dive team, Mon Valley Divers on a search detail for Allegheny County Police Department. Response included Dive 512 & Medic 507 to the search location which was near Monongahela. Divers spent part of the day and encountered difficulties related to the recent rains which caused the river to rise increasing the river’s current. Nothing was found and the team plans to continue their search when river conditions permit.
